Ciao Milan

Con immensa tristezza vi comunico che Mercoledì 25 Marzo è venuto a mancare un grande presidente della Federazione slovacca, Milan Capla.
Fortissima l’amicizia che mi legava a lui. L’ho conosciuto durante una competizione in Germania nel 1996. Da subito ci fu grande intesa e collaborazione.
Fu lui ad inserire nella WAF, al tempo presieduta da Bob O’Leary e da Barij Baran Das, la Sezione Braccio di Ferro Italia.
Nel 2001 diventò lui stesso presidente della WAF.
Dopo l’attentato alle torri Gemelle nell’undici Settembre dello stesso anno, fu richiesto l’annullamento del mondiale in Italia, che avrebbe dovuto essere il 10 Ottobre.
Visto l’investimento finanziario sostenuto dalla SBFI, Milan comprese le drammatiche conseguenze che tale annullamento avrebbe portato e si oppose fortemente.
Grazie a lui riuscimmo a svolgere il nostro importante evento.
Devo tanto a lui, anche se negli ultimi anni ci siamo frequentati poco il mio pensiero è sempre stato vicino a lui.
Io, il direttivo e tutta la SBFI porgiamo sentite condoglianze ai suoi famigliari e alla Federazione della Slovacchia che, con grande passione ha diretto.

With huge sadness I inform you that Wednesday 25 of March a big Slovakia Federation’s President has passed away, Milan Capla.
There was a very strong friendship between us. I’ve met him first time during a tournament in Germany in 1996. Since day one understanding and collaboration was total.
Was because of him that Sezione Braccio di Ferro Italia joined WAF, at that time presided by Bob O’Leary and Barij Baran Das.
In 2001 he was elected WAF President.
After the attack on the Twin Towers on 11 September of the same year, the cancellation of the World Championship in Italy was requested, which should have been October 10th.
Given the financial investment done by SBFI, Milan understood the dramatic consequences that such cancellation would bring and strongly opposed.
It was because of him that World Championship in Italy of 2001 have taken place.
I owe a lot to him. My thought are and was always close to him even if during last years we was met only few times.
Me, and all SBFI executive, send deep condolences to his family and to the Slovakia Federation which he has directed with great passion.
